The Business Group of the Biotechnological and Pharmaceutical Industries of Cuba (BioCubaFarma) announced that this year it will launch six new production lines, along with the recapitalization of other units, according to official media on the island.
The objective of these actions is “to increase the regulatory standard of the biotechnological and pharmaceutical industry, the efficiency of the processes and the technological transformation,” he says. an office of the Cuban News Agency (ACN).
In addition, Biocubafarma seeks to increase its production capacities through an extensive investment program, which includes twenty construction objects, including an injectable antibiotic plant, a cream and ointment plant, as well as new formulation and filling lines in the Laboratories. The specialist pointed out that the program is in correspondence with the projection of the entity until 2030, and that as part of the strategy they currently have more than 200 projects underway, reports the ACN.
The information points out that as of this year a new line for filling tubes for BTV transport media will begin to work at the National Center for Biopreparations, as well as an oral contraceptive plant at the Medsol Laboratories Company and another for N95 masks at Combiomed.
Dueñas also explained that in 2021 a comprehensive investment program was also developed that included the materialization of facilities dedicated to confronting COVID-19.
In this sense, he recalled the construction of the CIGB-Mariel Biotechnological Industrial Complexthe largest and highest standard investment since the creation of BioCubaFarma, as well as the completion of five new plants and six production lines, a record annual figure for the Business Group.
The agency highlights that among the production lines put into operation, the swab and sanitary mask factories of the Cuban Neuroscience Center, the oral rehydration salts plant of the Oriente Pharmaceutical Laboratory, and the packaging line of the biosensor plant of the Cuban Center stand out. As part of the recapitalized production facilities, an ampoule formulation and filling plant and another for serum and blood products in the AICA Laboratories Company, as well as the EPOVAC plant in the Molecular Immunology Center, also stand out.
