Rio de Janeiro is at very low risk for covid-19

New coronavirus causes 17,000 new infections in 24 hours

Rio de Janeiro is for the sixth consecutive week with the green flag, which represents a very low risk for covid-19. According to the Secretary of State for Health, this week’s Covid-19 Risk Map shows that of the nine health regions, four are at very low risk for the disease. They are: Ilha Grande Bay, Baixada Litorânea, Metropolitana I and Metropolitana II, which have a green flag (very low risk). The Central South, Middle Paraíba, Northwest, North and Serrana regions remained with the yellow flag (low risk). Rio de Janeiro is at very low risk for covid-19

The Secretary of State for Health, Alexandre Chieppe reported that the state remains at very low risk for covid-19. “Deaths and hospitalizations this week have reduced significantly. Even in the face of this scenario of sustained decline, we need the population not to neglect vaccination. People who have not yet received the 2nd dose or booster dose should return to health centers to complete the vaccination schedule. In addition, seniors aged 80 and over should receive the additional booster dose.”

In the period, the number of hospitalizations dropped by 69%, from 26 hospitalizations to 8. Deaths decreased by 75.8%, from 33 deaths to 8. The positivity rate for SARS-CoV-2 in RT-PCR tests was 1%. This Thursday (14), the occupancy rate of beds for covid-19 was 21.7% for (Intensive Care Units (ICU) and 15.4% for the ward.

The moving average of consultations with flu syndrome in emergency care units (UPA) in the period from 6 to 12 April was 294 daily cases. The data corresponds to a drop of 13.43% in consultations with flu syndrome in the last 14 days. In the same period, the average number of requests for hospitalization was 6 requests, which indicates a drop of 26% in requests, and the average waiting list for hospitalization was 6 people, indicating a decrease of 18% in the last 14 days. .

This week’s disease risk map shows that of the 92 cities in Rio de Janeiro, eight cities were classified as very low risk (green flag) and 84 cities classified as low risk (yellow flag).
