The President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, participated today (14) in a ceremony for the delivery of land regularization titles to settlers in the municipality of João Pinheiro (MG). According to the president of the National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform (Incra), Geraldo Melo Filho, from 2019 to 2022 more than 8,000 rural property titles were issued in Minas Gerais. Melo Filho also said that in the current stage, around 2,000 titles should be delivered by the end of the year.
The new Board of Directors, in a meeting held this Thursday, elected José Mauro Ferreira Coelho for the position of president of the company for a one-year term.
“In Minas, we have 1 million hectares in settlements and today we have started a delivery process that adds up to more than 8 thousand documents that are spread not only in João Pinheiro, but in 288 settlements in 133 different municipalities,” said Melo Filho.
During the ceremony, Bolsonaro said that, with the titling, small rural producers will be able to produce more, as they will be sure that the land will remain for future generations.
“There is no more important moment than seeing on the face of the person receiving the property title showing that the land belongs to him, his children, his grandchildren and that is priceless”, he said. “When we title a land to the settler, having the guarantee that the property is his, that the improvements he makes will be for his children and grandchildren, they produce more for all of us”.
The delivery of titles is part of the actions of the Titula Brasil program, a partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply with states and municipalities aimed at titling settlements and rural public areas in the Union.
One of the settlers, who received the title, Maria Aparecida da Silva Rodrigues, thanked her and said it was worth the wait. “I am very grateful, it was worth waiting all these years”, she celebrated.
