The Ethics Commission of the Congress agreed by majority to dismiss the complaint filed against the current president of the Legislative branch, María del Carmen Alva, motivated by her participation in various controversial events, including the meeting held last February, in a well-known Lima hotel, where together with other political actors he would have been discussing a possible presidential vacancy against the President of the Republic.
In this sense, the members of the parliamentary group, who evaluated the qualification report File 033-2021-2022, which advocated shelving the complaint against Alva Prieto, deemed it pertinent to approve the acquittal measure, with nine votes in favor, one against and four abstentions. In this way, the accusation presented by Congressman Guillermo Bermejo (Democratic Peru) for an alleged infraction of the Legislative’s code of ethics was inadmissible.
