The current salariesadjusted for inflation, are lower than those registered in the first months of the covid-19 pandemicdespite significant salary adjustments made last year.
The information was provided by Regional Center for Sustainable Economic Strategy (CEEES)based on the average salary quoted in the Dominican Social Security System (SDSS).
Last year, wages in the different sectors of the economy increased. For example, the increase in the minimum wage of non-sectorized workers was 24%, while in the free zone sector reached 21%.
As of February 2022, the real average contributory salary has decreased 2.1% compared to that of December 2021.
With such high levels of price inflation like those experienced in more than a year, it has not been possible to maintain the value of the real income of formal workers who contribute to the SDSS, he explains.
It argues that without increases in productivity, artificial increases in wages increase the cost of companies,
He explained that since international monetary conditions are determining costs at the domestic level and, consequently, prices, it is necessary to adopt policies to cushion these effects.

On the other hand, the Popular Association of Savings and Loans (APAP) was recognized with the first position as the Best Place to Work in the Dominican financial system and the fifth among the companies of the Caribbean and the Dominican Republic 2022, according to the international firm Great Place To Work (GPTW).
This year, APAP rose in its position within the ranking compared to 2021, where it occupied the 6th position within the Best Places to Work in the Caribbean and the Dominican Republic.
