MIAMI, United States. – The Cuban regime agreed to decentralize the retail price in Cuban pesos (CUP) of a group of products that are sold in chain stores and related entities, according to information from the Ministry of Finance and Prices (MFP) cited by the state agency Latin Press.
According to Resolution 81 of 2022, issued by that body and published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Cuba No. 38 (ordinary) of this year, the power to approve such prices is passed to the heads of chain stores and other marketing entities.
However, the Prensa Latina note specifies, the prices of several essential products with a high impact on the population such as edible oils, chicken (thigh and thigh), poultry and beef mince and rums remain centralized. HavanaClub.
Also exempt from the new measure are hygiene and cleaning items of national production of economic line such as toilet and bath soaps, detergents, toothpaste and gel, deodorants and floor blankets, details the aforementioned note.
According to the MFFthe new legal provision “provides continuity to the gradual process of decentralization of powers to the business system to set retail prices in Cuban pesos.”
In addition, it establishes that current general principles be taken into account, with a comprehensive evaluation of costs and expenses with criteria of rationality and efficiency, as well as the correlation with market benchmarks.
Likewise, it empowers the president of the Business Administration Group to establish regulations for retail prices of products sold by the Store Chains of his attention, when required.
The new regulation annuls Resolution 346, issued by Meisi Bolaños Weiss, head of the MFP, which establishes centralized retail prices of products that are marketed by chain stores, except for the selection of the specified economic line.
