The head of the Secretariat for Comprehensive Drug Policies of the Argentine Nation (Sedronar), Gabriela Torres, headed this Tuesday the first face-to-face meeting of the Federal Drug Council (Cophedro)which was carried out after two years of virtual meetings due to the pandemic, and which rbrought together provincial representatives to discuss policies on problematic substance useit was officially reported.
“We work on issues that seem important to us, dealing federally and finding common agreements on intervention in childhood, on intervention in native peoples, explaining the complexity of what we do and how to work with the media,” Torres explained. .
The Undersecretary of Mental Health and Problematic Consumption of the province of Buenos Aires, Julieta Calmels, highlighted the importance of articulation between the Nation and the provinces.
“If we do not advance to an integration policy, it will be difficult for us to really respond to the needs of our people and build more forms of care, accompaniment and assistance in sensitive issues such as problematic consumption,” he said.
For his part, the Undersecretary of Mental Health and Addictions of La Pampa, Martín Malgápointed out that it is important “to be well articulated at the federal level and to have a Sedronar that can give specific, individualized responses, meeting the demands of each province. And this spirit is recovered in this Council.”
Similarly, the Undersecretary of Mental Health, Addictions and Disability of Jujuy, Agustín Yécorahighlighted that the Cofedro allows them to “advance, get to know each other, exchange, recount different experiences and, at the same time, learn from other experiences”.
During the meeting, the “Federal Guidelines and Criteria for Intervention Guide in situations of substance use in schools” was presented, with the participation of the Undersecretary of Social and Cultural Education, Alejandro Garay, and the coordinator of the Prevention and Care program. , Natalia González, both from the Ministry of Education.
The completion of the Seventh National Study of the Consumption of Psychoactive Substances in the General Population, aged 16 to 75, which Sedronar articulates with the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec), was also announced.
There was also a space for the exchange of experiences on institutional management tables, the Network of Assistance and Accompaniment Devices and the territorial articulation, in charge of the university professor of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and the National University of Entre Ríos (UNER), Alfredo Carballeda.
“It was a pleasant and fruitful day of work, where we feel that we have a lot to do and that there is no way to do it if it is not the State, at all its levels and articulated, with a federal perspective that assumes the complexity and uniqueness of each territory”, concluded the head of Sedronar.
El Cofedro is a space for meeting and debate with the aim of developing public policies for the prevention, care and treatment of problematic substance use, as well as defining the guidelines for a joint articulation in the comprehensive approach to this issue.
