From this Tuesday the 12th to Monday the 18th of April, Operation “Easter Kairos III” will be carried out.
Members of the Public Force, health personnel, firefighters, Red Cross, emergency team, lifeguards and the National Civil Protection System will participate in said operation, in order to guarantee the safety of citizens, many of whom will travel to the inside the country.
At a press conference this Tuesday, it was announced that there will be a lane reversal operation, starting on Thursday, April 14, from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, heading towards the interior of the country. Meanwhile, the return operation to Panama City – which will be on Sunday, April 17 – will be from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm
As for the general security operation, a total of 3,185 units of the National Police will carry out land, sea and technological actions.
During Holy Week, the authorities expect to increase security in residential areas and the expansion of surveillance in businesses.
The devices will reinforce security in Colón, Panama, Panamá Oeste, as well as in Coclé, Los Santos, Veraguas, Comarca Ngäbe Buglé, Chiriquí and Bocas del Toro.
The Minister of Public Security, Juan Manuel Pino, during the conference, referred to the current security situation in the provinces of Colón and Chiriquí.
“In Colón we coincidentally have the Caribe operation in its third phase. Homicides in Colón have fallen lately, there is a control of the city of Colón”, said the minister.
He pointed out that “the reinforcement that the public force has made by adding Senafront units and the high-impact operations in Colón that have been coming since last year have achieved a decrease in homicides in the province, it can be said relatively.”
Regarding Chiriquí, he announced that in the next few days he will be meeting with the province’s business associations.
“The entire security team for the Chiriquí Chamber of Commerce is going to a meeting just like we did last week in Colón, where we are going to interact because in Chiriquí the Senafront participates on the eastern side and the Police on the western side. of those of the province. So we are going to go to a security meeting to explain to the Chamber of Commerce how the actions are and what plans we have for the province,” said the head of the Minseg.
“These are unfortunate homicides, we are going to explain it and we know that in Chiriquí we have to pay attention to it because it is a border area, this year security will be reinforced in this area,” Pino concluded.
