congressman Alex Walls (Free Peru) rejected a possible advance of general elections, as proposed this Monday by the president of Parliament, Maria del Carmen Alva (Popular Action), after ensuring that none of the legislators is “entrenched” in their seats.
Paredes indicated that he respects Alva Prieto’s position, but recalled that both the congressmen and the president of the Republic, peter castlehave been elected for a period of five years, for which he urged to respect this time and asked to work in favor of citizenship.
“I respect the opinions of people, including that of the president of Congress, but I believe that a calm behavior must be maintained because we have been elected in an electoral process based on the rules of the game, but above all based on the rule of law”, he declared for the press.

“Article 38 (of the Constitution) mandates what we Peruvians must do and that is to respect and comply with the legal system. We have been elected for five years and we believe that this period must be respected. What you have to do is work for what the population expects”, added the pro-government parliamentarian.
In addition, Alex Walls avoided issuing an opinion on the permanence of Hannibal Torres as president of the Council of Ministers and only indicated that the work carried out by all officials should be supervised.
“That corresponds to the evaluation of the President of the Republic, I am respectful of the actions of people. Those who assume public functions must be supervised based on what the norm provides, which is what they have to do.”, he expressed.
Alva’s statements
Earlier, Maria del Carmen Alva She called on the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, to resign and then assured that no congressman would cling to his position, for which she was willing to call new general elections.
“Today we are going to see that issue which is to modify this item and fix the issue (of the law that exonerates the IGV), what cannot be fixed with an article is the misgovernment and the chaos that we live in, that is why we all ask the president to step aside, here in Congress nobody entrenches their seat, if there have to be general elections, then there will be general elections”, he told the press.
