With 78 votes in favor, 29 against and 2 abstentions, the Plenary of the Congress it approved, at insistence, Draft Law No. 138, which proposes to establish measures for the expansion of concurrent control by the Comptroller General of the Republic.
This autograph of law raised by the Comptroller’s Office had been observed last July by the Executive Power during the previous administration.
Through a statement, the Comptroller’s Office welcomed the approval of the law to expand concurrent control at the national level, because it will help prevent irregularities and ensure that projects are completed in a timely manner at a reasonable cost for the benefit of citizens.
“We are sure that with this historic decision, concurrent control will contribute to promoting the development and reactivation of quality public works and services through systematic and specialized monitoring of control teams.”, It indicated in a document.
Let us remember that a few weeks ago, the Comptroller Nelson Shack affirmed that, with this law, the Comptroller’s Office could supervise technical files, profiles and declarations of viability of public works.
He explained that for every sol that the Comptroller’s Office invests in carrying out the concurrent control, a saving of six soles is achieved to the State in potential damages.
In this sense, he highlighted the importance of the law that expands concurrent control, since it will allow the Comptroller to be provided with resources to increase its operational capacity and thus hire professionals who allow this control modality to be applied in a mandatory manner to the works of more than S / 10 million, and optionally to lower cost works.
Shack mentioned that the expansion of concurrent control will allow the Comptroller’s Office to intervene in the phase of technical files for public works, which will be reviewed by multidisciplinary professionals.
