Huancavelica: Faithful make colorful rugs for Palm Sunday

From very early on, hundreds of Huancavelicans went out to Av. Manchego Muñoz to make carpets to commemorate Palm Sunday.

They made them along said road, the Plaza de Armas and the Virrey Toledo shred, where they put all their efforts to show their art and seek to win the contest held by the Provincial Municipality of Huancavelica.

The historian Manuel Breña Martínez affirmed that it is a colonial tradition to make the rugs for this date, the same one that, since that time, has been made with natural flowers, in order to give it greater prominence and enhancement.

Upon reaching the Ascension Bridge, the effigy of Christ the Savior of the World was found with a beautiful arch of palms.

Unlike other years, this 2022 not a single regional or municipal authority accompanied the effigy, as happened years ago.
