The aim is to quell the protests. Through the Minister of Economy and Public Finance, Marcelo Montenegro, the Government summoned “all” the representatives of the union members to a dialogue on Law 1386 on the National Strategy to Combat the Legitimation of Profits for this Saturday, November 13, in the city of Cochabamba.

The authority explained that the invitations have already been sent. Hours before, the leader of the sector Francisco Figueroa had slipped approaches on this conflictive issue.

“We are inviting all the representatives of the union colleagues from all over the country to discuss aspects related to Law 1386,” he announced at a press conference.

“Not only that issue, but also other important ones that are related to the entire union family,” he added, and specified that the invitation “is not restricted to a specific confederation.”

The strike and protests to demand the repeal of this rule have been promoted by unions and civic groups since Monday.

The regions most affected by the mobilizations are Santa Cruz, Cochabamba, Potosí and Tarija, although in the other regions there are marches for and against President Luis Arce and his policies.

This Thursday the heavy transport mobilized in Sucre against the norm. Montenegro explained that in parallel the Government promotes meetings with various groups in the sector in order to explain the scope of the standard.
