Cuba: one death from COVID-19 and 603 infections reported this Saturday

The infections due to the SARS-CoV-2 virus totaled 603 this Saturday in Cuba, according to the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap) that on your part today reports the death of an octogenarian due to COVID-19.

With this death, reported from Villa Clara, the sum of fatalities since March 2020 remains at 8,518. The fatality rate is 0.78%.

During the day, 10,589 samples were processed and of the total cases, 578 were contacts of confirmed cases; in 20 individuals the cause of the infection was not specified and five were imported.

The Camagüey province (94) is once again the one that reports the most cases in 24 hours. They are followed by Mayabeque (84) and Ciego de Ávila (73).

By age, the group made up of those under 20 years of age is persistently the one with the highest figures in 24 hours (218). The rest behaved as follows: 134 between 20 and 39 years old; 110 between 40 and 59, and 141 with more than 60 years.

According to the MINSAP, 584 clinical discharges were notified and the number of people admitted as a result of COVID-19 was 6,889; of these, 2,770 are confirmed active cases.

In intensive care rooms, the sum of bedridden patients increased to 33, with eight in critical condition and 25 reported as serious.
