The wall of a heritage home collapsed this Saturday in the Miraflores area. The event was recorded between Bueno and Comercio streets, in the center of the city of La Paz, due to lack of maintenance and soaking caused by the rains.
The Mayor’s Office of La Paz will demolish the affected parts of the property to avoid greater risks.
A report from the Municipal Secretariat for Comprehensive Risk Management (SMGIR) indicates that the fall of an adobe wall on the front of a heritage building, whose front, floors and roof had already collapsed in December 2021, was addressed.

The technical team specified as causes of the collapse the lack of maintenance and the saturation of the wall due to the rains, therefore, the demolition of the affected parts of the structure is considered necessary.
According to the SMGIR report, demolition authorization for three sectors was requested from the Heritage Directorate and the Central Sub-Mayor’s Office, as there is a risk of total collapse, affecting the sidewalk and the road that was preemptively closed.
