The Ministry of Tourism and the Municipality of Salto inaugurated, this Friday the 8th, works in the Termas del Daymán Municipal Complex, one of the most important of its kind on the Uruguayan coast. The areas include changing rooms, toilets and an accessible and bright multifunctional space. The investment amounts to 300,000 dollars, with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
The opening ceremony was led by the Minister of Tourism, Tabaré Viera, together with the Mayor of Salto, Andrés Lima; the coordinator of the IDB program, Gustavo Adamo; the Undersecretary of Tourism, Remo Monzeglio; the general director of that portfolio, Ignacio Curbelo; the National Director of Tourism, Roque Baudean, and the Director of Tourism of the Municipality of Salto, Andrea Malvasio.
The construction of the multifunctional space located in the Daymán Terminal Park was defined jointly in 2020 between the national and departmental governments, in order to optimize resources, Viera reported.
He added that the investment made by the Ministry of Tourism and the Municipality of Salto reaches 300,000 dollars and was financed by the IDB. He also considered that the works allowed the construction of high-quality public spaces within the thermal complex. “These works accompany the objectives of transversality with a criterion of inclusion and accessibility that differentiate it,” he added.
Viera also presented a project to control the quality of hot springs. Daymán is the third tourist destination in the country, which managed to deseasonalize the tourist offer. “It is a great project, and very well executed,” he stressed.
The minister recalled that the tourism stimulus measures adopted by the Government both for companies and for national and foreign visitors are being very well received. In that sense, he said that the expectations for the Tourism Week are very good, with a high demand throughout the country.
