Alfonso De Urresti: “I have expressed my support for the fifth withdrawal if there is no robust package from the government” in economic solvency

Alfonso De Urresti: "I have expressed my support for the fifth withdrawal if there is no robust package from the government" in economic solvency

The senator Alfonso De Urresti announced that he will present his candidacy to become the next president of the Socialist Party and also announced his positions regarding the minister’s controversy Siches and the future discussion of the Fifth Retirement of pensions.

In dialogue with ThirdDe Urresti affirmed that in case of being elected as the new socialist helmsman, “we are going to collaborate so that the program is carried out. I share what the President himself said, we have to move towards a government coalition to have a team as as possible to carry out the tasks in a Congress where we do not have a majority”.

On the other hand, he reaffirmed his support for the Minister of the Interior, Izkia Siches, who has suffered the political repercussions of her statements about the flight of foreigners that was returned in the previous administration.

In that sense, the senator assured that “we were the first party that made a strong and clear support for the Minister of the Interior, preventing a hunt from being generated by the opposition,” he added.

Meanwhile, when asked if he will square with the government for the rejection of a possible Fifth Retreat, the parliamentarian argued: “I have expressed my support for the fifth withdrawal if there is not a robust package from the government.”

Similarly, he was asked about the position of the Minister of Finance, Mario Marcelwho has warned of the economic consequences of a new withdrawal of 10% in pension funds.

On this point, De Urresti indicated that “I greatly appreciate the work that Minister Marcel is doing, but it is also his obligation to seek the necessary public policies to contain inflation and to transfer resources to the people who are in trouble today.”

“With the previous withdrawals, more than 700 million dollars were paid in alimony. That is clearly a tremendous wake-up call, to understand that there is not only a serious economic crisis, but also a serious crisis of fulfillment of obligations as basic as food allowances for boys and girls in our country. We have to work hard to have these supplements, otherwise the fifth withdrawal will be a reality,” he said.
