United Nations Human Rights Office will inspect immigration stations in Darien

The Ombudsman’s Office announced that the mission will make the tour next week and that the information was confirmed by the regional director of the Office of the High Commissioner, Maribel Peña.

The Ombudsman’s Office reported that representatives of this entity and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (Oacnudh), will carry out an inspection at the different migrant reception stations in the province of Darien.

The Ombudsman’s Office announced that the mission will make the tour next week and that the information was confirmed by the regional director of the Office of the High Commissioner, Maribel Peña.

It is specified that the delegation will move to Metetí next Monday, November 15 and that the agenda is also to visit the Bajo Chiquito sector. Then they will go to Canaán Quince, in the middle of the week.

Likewise, the members of the mission will go to the Lajas Blancas and San Vicente migration stations.

In addition, that after the tour the delegation will hold a meeting with authorities of the Public Ministry of the Darien province.

The visit of the staff of the United Nations human rights office will take place days after executives of the International Organization for Migration paid a visit to the region on Tuesday, November 9.
