Nadine Heredia: Judge will decide whether to vary the house arrest of former first lady by appearance

The Sixth National Preparatory Investigation Court would decide whether to accept the request of the former first lady so that the house arrest for restricted appearance that was imposed on him be varied, while the Prosecutor’s Office investigates it for the Gas Pipeline Case.

In today’s virtual hearing, the deputy prosecutor Patricia Castañeda rejected this possibility because she considers that Heredia Alarcón could exert pressure on the witnesses to vary their statements in the process that is being followed for the crime of illicit association and others.

The wife of former president Ollanta Humala (2011-2016) is charged to the Kuntur Transportadora company, in the Gasoducto Andino del Sur project.

Castañeda stated that Heredia Alarcon He has access to the right to protect his health and work because he attends his medical appointments and manages his pastry company. The judicial decision will be issued within the term of the law.

The prosecutor maintained that the former Minister of Energy and Mines Jorge Merino, today an effective collaborator, continues to provide evidence on the intervention of Heredia in government decisions of Humala Tasso.

In September 2020, the First National Anti-Corruption Appeals Criminal Chamber declared the appeal of the Lava Jato special team founded and issued 24 months of home detention against Nadine heredia, in the framework of the investigation of the Gas Pipeline Case, in charge of the prosecutor Geovana Mori.

That time the court considered that “Verifies the existence of an interest and interference” from Heredia Alarcon in the project South Peruvian Gas Pipeline to be awarded to Odebrecht. For the room, this interference is “Would evidence” in the appointment of the Proinversión Board of Directors and the Energy Safety Committee.

It should be noted that after a year and a half, Judge Richard Concepción Carhuancho concluded the control of the accusation against the former president Ollanta Humala, Nadine heredia and others prosecuted for another case: the alleged contributions of the Brazilian company Odebrecht.

The prosecutor requested 20 years in prison for Humala tasso and 26 and a half years for Heredia Alarcon for the crime of money laundering for the alleged contributions of the Government of Venezuela and Odebrecht for the electoral campaigns of 2006 and 2011.
