On the agenda in the southern region of the country, President Jair Bolsonaro participated, this Friday afternoon (8), in the inauguration of the expansion and modernization works of Passo Fundo airport, a city in the northern region of Rio Grande do Sul. In all, around R$ 45 million were invested in the renovation, with resources from the National Civil Aviation Fund.
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, with the interventions, the boarding and disembarkation capacity of passengers was increased from 48 users in peak hours to more than 300. There was an expansion of the terminal and reconstruction of the landing and take-off runway. Also according to the folder, lanes, safety areas and drainage system were implemented. New taxiway, aircraft apron and acquisition of new air traffic control equipment were built.
“A work aimed at regional aviation, a very important work for this entire area. Several actors participated in it, but I tell you, another work that we are completing”, said President Jair Bolsonaro, during the inauguration.
The governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Ranolfo Vieira Júnior, said that the work was highly anticipated by the region’s residents. He highlighted the partnership between federations for the completion of the reform.
“As of April 25, we will have the flight from Passo Fundo to São Paulo re-established. In other words, Passo Fundo will be at a stopover from the rest of the world”, he celebrated. For the mayor of Passo Fundo, Pedro Almeida, the new airport will greatly improve the logistics of the city and the region.
Before landing in Passo Fundo, Bolsonaro and his entourage of ministers fulfilled two more commitments in Rio Grande do Sul. He was in Bagé, for the delivery of the works of the radiotherapy unit of the Cancer Hospital in the city and in Pelotas for the delivery of the work of duplication of the road contour of the city, in the BR-116/392. In the evening, the president will visit the 60th Agricultural and Industrial Exhibition in Londrina (PR), ExpoLondrina 2022.
