The Cuban Foreign Minister accuses the United States and Facebook of promoting "a nonexistent scenario" for the 15N

The Cuban Foreign Minister accuses the United States and Facebook of promoting "a nonexistent scenario" for the 15N

The offensive against 15N has reached the realm of diplomacy. Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla met this Wednesday with the diplomatic corps accredited on the island to sell the official message against the Civic March for Change called by the opposition platform Archipelago for next Monday.

The minister dedicated a large part of his speech to blaming the United States for the protests on the island. In summary, Rodríguez Parrilla sought to pave the way to justify the foreseeable repression on 15N and to recover in health in the face of criticism from the international community.

The Foreign Minister did not deviate a comma from the official speech and even repeated messages sent by his colleagues. “They are not going to ruin our celebration,” said Rodríguez, paraphrasing his boss, Miguel Díaz-Canel and his “no one is going to spoil the party” pronounced days ago at the closing of the seventh regular session of the National Assembly.

“You can walk our streets and you will see the joy of the Cubans at this moment of opening our country and the approach of a new year.”

The chancellor pointed out that the next day the 15th will take place the reopening of the country, the reactivation of tourism and, linked to it, of the economy; and that, coinciding with this, it seeks to destabilize the country and damage social peace from abroad. “You can walk our streets and you will see the joy of the Cubans at this moment of opening our country and the approach of a new year,” said Rodríguez, for whom there are no indigenous critics of Cuba, he said.

According to the minister, up to 29 influential US officials and politicians have made statements as of this November 10, “aimed at guiding and instigating destabilization actions.” In addition, he reviewed the usual evil actions of Washington, including the flow of money destined for independent media to “turn a nonexistent scenario into a supposed reality.” Rodríguez describes this alternative press as “a powerful communication machine,” despite the fact that within Cuba most of these media are blocked by his Government, which has a media monopoly on the island.

The Chancellor also insisted that the embargo, which has not been contained even by the Joe Biden Administration, which had promised in the campaign to relax some measures approved by former President Donald Trump, aims to cause suffering in the population so that it explodes against Cuban authorities. In this sense, he denied that donations of medical material have been sent from the United States during the pandemic, including oxygen at the time of greatest demand and attributed the materials from this country to private donations.

In the same way, he made reference to food, thanking the food that has come from associations and solidarity people in the United States but never from the Government.

The foreign minister has also warned that Facebook is allowing illegal activities in Cuba, in unequivocal reference to the groups in which opposition activists organize and share content.

The foreign minister has also warned that Facebook is allowing illegal activities in Cuba, in unequivocal reference to groups in which opposition activists organize and share content peacefully and without calling for violence. “Facebook could be severely sued for this practice against Cuba,” he warned.

Rodríguez has also denounced that the United States tries to boycott Cuban vaccines, which, he stressed, have worked, preventing those immunized with Abdala and Soberana 02 from traveling to their country. In addition, he has argued that they behave in a cynical manner by providing scholarships “to Cuban citizens in an irregular condition without vaccination certificates” and also by offering a few vaccines (one million doses) just when the population is just being injected.

In the list of affronts that the minister shelled also includes the supposed threats and attacks to Cuban diplomatic headquarters all over the world, making specific mention of Barcelona, and the foreign press accredited in Cuba whom, he said, they attack for “supposedly not reflect what is happening in Cuba. “

Having said all this, the Foreign Minister has urged the international community, present there through its diplomats, to defend Cuba from the attacks of the United States. “Some of the diplomats are under pressure to join in these acts, but I know that they will not do it because they are respectful of the Vienna Convention and they know perfectly what is happening or not in Cuba, “appealed Rodríguez, who affirmed that Washington is internationally discredited for its behavior towards Cuba.

“Clear that dream, wake up from that mirage. It will not happen, it is a dysfunctional, obsolete policy, anchored in the past,” urged the foreign minister, adding that the US was exposed to “international isolation.” In recent days, however, warnings have been reaching the Cuban government from various institutions, some of them relevant to its economic survival, such as the European Union, in case they start a wave of arrests and violence on the 15th. something that seems inevitable.

“We will use the laws. We will not allow the Constitution to be invoked to violate it. We will prevent any form of intervention. For 60 years we have defended and will defend the country at the cost of our lives.”

“We will use the laws. We will not allow the Constitution to be invoked to violate it. We will prevent any form of intervention. For 60 years we have defended and we will defend the country at the cost of our lives,” said Rodríguez, who called on the United States on several occasions not to wasting taxpayers’ money in this “futile war” against Cuba.

Among the latest demands of the foreign minister was, paradoxically, an end to “harassment against Cubans or friends who speak out in defense of the Government,” a benefit that the regime does not seem willing to give in exchange to those who demonstrate otherwise.
