The Civil Police announced that it has opened an investigation, after the goalkeeper reported the events at a police station due to the seriousness of the threats received through the social media profile of Janara Sackl’s personal trainer, his wife.

He received a series of audios and images on his Instagram account, and in one of them a pistol and ammunition appeared on a Corinthians shirt, from a user identified as “$heik Caçador”.

The suspect demanded that Cássio, whom he called “unfortunate”, among other insults, abandon the São Paulo discipline, in one of the audios transcribed by the sports portal ‘ge’, of Grupo Globo.

“It’s a matter of time. I don’t know what we’re going to do, kill him, I don’t know, but we’re going to find him and we’re going to intimidate him,” he added.

The coach instantly alerted the soccer player’s wife, who decided to file a lawsuit with the Brazilian authorities.

Later, Cássio, 34, stated in a note that he cannot “accept such threats in any way” and that he hopes “justice will be done.”

“I was always a player who dedicated myself to the maximum and sought to help coaches, players and leaders who came through here on and off the field,” he said.

“I am fully aware that I must always prove why I reached almost 600 games and won nine titles with this club”, but “I do not accept what happened and I did not want to remain silent in the face of so much injustice”, he added.

Corinthians lamented the episode and asked the fans “to be aware of the need for peace in football, to respect the player and his family, and to reject any initiative that tries to transform” this sport “into an activity that tolerates violence”.

The team, this season under the command of the Portuguese coach Vítor Pereira, has accumulated several troubles in recent days, after falling in the semifinals of the Paulista Championship and conceding a humiliating defeat against the Bolivian Always Ready (2-0), in the first day of the group stage of the Copa Libertadores.
