Transporters from Panama Oeste closed roads due to the rise in gasoline

Transporters from the selective sector in the district of Arraiján, province of Panamá Oeste announced protest actions for this Friday, due to the increase in the cost of fuel.

Through social networks, the Transportistas del West group announced the blockade of the Loma Cová road section, starting at 7:00 in the morning.

However, after 8:00 am, the carriers remained on the side of the road under the surveillance of the National Police Crowd Control Units.

The carriers’ protest actions coincide with a new fuel cost increase of two cents for 91 and 95 octane gasoline and one cent for low-sulfur diesel.

The transportation union has warned that current fuel costs make the activity little or not profitable.

In the Chame district, public transportation drivers kept the Inter-American highway closed at San José for 30 minutes.

The road was cleared after the Operations units of the National Traffic Directorate showed up and proceeded to fine the drivers.

In the district of Capira, the collective transport leadership reported the stoppage of service, alleging that the high cost of gasoline is affecting them.
