German Martinez: "Deputies have only 4 business days to approve the new law"

Martinez estimated that "this week" The draft agreement with the IMF will be submitted to Congress

The legislator made reference to the short term that the Chamber of Deputies will have to deal with the project approved on Thursday by the Senate

The president of the block of the Front of All (FdT) of Deputies, Germán Martínez, recalled this Friday that The Supreme Court had “1,577 days of analysis” to rule on the current law of the Judicial Council and assured that the lower house, on the other hand, will have “only four business days to approve the new law” sanctioned on Thursday by the Senate.

On his Twitter account, Martínez recalled that “The file on the constitutionality of the current law entered the Court on 08/22/2017. The ruling came out on 12/16/2021. 1,577 days of analysis. Deputies have only four business days to approve a new law, according to the deadline fixed by the same Court”.

In this way, the legislator made reference to the short time that the Chamber of Deputies will have to deal with the project sanctioned Thursday by the Senate, since according to the ruling of the Court, the limit to sanction a new law expires on Friday, April 15.

The ruling of the National Supreme Court declared the unconstitutionality of the conformation of 13 members that was arranged in 2006, currently in force.

On that occasion, the highest court granted Congress a period of 120 days to pass a law that establishes a new structure for the body in charge of proposing magistrates to be appointed by the President of the Nation, administering the Judiciary, controlling the activity of judges and eventually sanction them and send them to impeachment.

The project approved on Thursday by the Senate must be dealt with in the coming days by the lower house, where the scenario of parity between the ruling party and the opposition will force the FdT to establish agreements to approve this initiative.

To do this, the Commissions for Constitutional Affairs and Justice must first be formed, still not integrated, due to the difficulties between the ruling party and the opposition to advance agreements in this regard.
