SANTO DOMINGO.- Senator Eddy Nolasco attributed the position of entities in favor of the opposition to the bill that establishes a zero rate for 67 products of the basic family basket to merely political issues, suggesting that they are against the most needy and back to town.
With the opposition speech that politicians preach against the aforementioned legislative plan, approved in the Chamber of Deputies in second reading, what they seek is to confuse the population, “when in reality it is the people who benefit from this type of measure.”
The legislator of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), for the Valverde province, defended the initiative to temporarily import different products at zero rate, after arguing that President Luis Abinader is taking a step forward to face inflation.
“The president (Luis Abinader) is taking a step forward to maintain price stability, but it was not like we were used to that in times of trouble others benefited from the dispossessed, from those who did not have the means to buy bread. of everyday. Now things are totally different.”
He specified that it is worth nothing that a person has money, if there is no need to buy in establishments, say edible products and others.
“It’s not that we’re going to invade the country, but we have to have what it takes. We don’t do anything with money if you don’t have a place to go to buy. So, President, go ahead. Minister of Agriculture, continue to step forward as well, in favor of the food of the Dominican people”, he declared.
He argued that the government works in favor of Dominicans, especially those most in need.
“The president does take a step forward, but for the benefit of food, life, health. And it’s good that it has a Minister of Agriculture who works day and night so that the prices of the basic basket are maintained”, he valued.
He stressed that the present government administration works so that there is “food” and so that basic necessities are affordable.
