Ore thieves (jucus) confronted workers from the Huanuni company in the Kataricagua community on Sunday with the balance of one person injured, belonging to the state mining company that operates in Oruro.
The departmental prosecutor of Oruro, Orlando Zapata, said that the miners were surprised in Kataricagua by criminals who arrived in the sector firing shots. “The miners were doing preventive work against the juqueo and that’s when the jucus arrived and they were shot, managing to seriously injure a driver,” he added.
After the attack, the jucus fled, however, five of them were arrested and will now appear before the Prosecutor’s Office.
