The fourth day of competition for the Brazil Swimming Trophy (which is held at the Maria Lenk Aquatic Park, in Rio de Janeiro) saw confirmation of two relays at the Budapest World Championships (Hungary).
This Thursday (7) the men’s 4×100 meters freestyle relay team was confirmed. The team’s confirmation came after Gabriel Santos (with a time of 48s64) and Marcelo Chierighini (48s76) guaranteed themselves in the individual dispute of the 100 meters freestyle. In the relay they will be accompanied by rookies Vinicius Assunção and Felipe Ribeiro.

“This renovation is very good. Marcelo and I have been in the national team for the last few years and we know how strong this relay is outside the country. It’s good for us to have new blood in the relay and it’s good for them to also have our experience on their side”, said Gabriel Santos, who won the individual event.
The day was also to confirm the formation of the women’s 4×100 meter freestyle relay. Despite not reaching individual rates in the race, the sum of the four best results was below the participation rate for the relay, which will feature Stephanie Balduccini, Ana Vieira, Giovanna Diamante and Giovana Medeiros.

Another index obtained on this farm was that of Guilherme Costa in the 800 meters freestyle. The swimmer known as Cachorrão already had a guaranteed spot at the Budapest World Championship, but swam the race in 7min52s40, below the participation rate.
“It’s good to swim fast. Despite being ranked, if I fall into the water, I will want to swim to my best. Today was not my best time, but I managed to swim below the index and leave the pool satisfied with my performance”, she declared.
