President Cortizo approves law for the digital transformation of education

President Laurentino Cortizo sanctioned Law 294, which establishes the guidelines to implement and develop educational public policies for the digital transformation of education.

This rule is aimed at increasing equity in the school system and one of its objectives is to provide free internet access to all public schools in the country.

The Presidency of the Republic explained that this educational plan will be applied throughout the country in stages and guaranteeing access to internet connectivity, including areas of difficult access and those that do not have mobile network coverage.

In addition, among the objectives of the law is “large-scale technological and digital transformation to generate student learning; provide the educational system with technological infrastructure such as energy, connectivity, devices, content and platforms to support students; consolidate progress with the development of platforms and content available in the official sector”.

For the Minister of Education, Maruja Gorday de Villalobos, “this project implements the development of STEAM education, progressively generates material and technological equipment for all students, leading the development of curricular areas according to 21st century skills. , especially in digital skills”.

With the new law, the national government hopes to guarantee, among other things, electricity, water and adequate infrastructure in all educational centers in the country.
