3-0: Fluminense beats Oriente Petrolero

The Fluminense Brazilian, with a goal from the Colombian midfielder John Ariasdefeated this Wednesday by 3-0 to a Oil East Bolivian defeated from start to finish at the Maracana, on the first day of Group H of the Copa Sudamericana.

Abel Braga’s team, driven by the recent conquest of the 2022 Carioca Championship, scored the first two goals in a span of eight minutes in the first half.

Cristiano opened the account in the 29th minute by taking advantage of a rebound by the Paraguayan goalkeeper Wilson Quiñónez, the best in Oriente despite the win, and Arias buried any hope of the Bolivian team in the 37th minute.

Uruguayan defender Leandro Zazpe signed the away team’s death certificate in the 72nd minute with a goal in his own goal, after deflecting a cross from Willian Bigode.

Eliminated in the last preliminary phase of the Libertadores, the ‘Flu’ started their journey in the South American on the right foot and is already leading Group H, after the Colombian Junior from Barranquilla and the Argentine Union Santa Fe did not go beyond the tie (1- 1).

The Bolivians surprised and came out biting in the first few minutes, although then they backed down completely and bet everything on the counterattack.

Although Quiñónez soon marked his presence to clear a shot by Colombian Jhon Arias.

The Albiverdes had theirs in a double chance for the Argentine striker Facundo Suárez, who ran into the local goalkeeper, Fábio, from the ground. It was a confusing set that could have completely changed the designs of the party.

In the sequence, Fluminense put in one more speed and put land in the middle with a goal from full-back Cristiano, in the 29th minute.

The play was born at the feet of the reborn Ganso, who unleashed a whiplash in front of the area. Quiñónez rejected and Cristiano took advantage of the gift to make it 1-0.

Facundo tried to wake up his people, although he ran into Fábio again.

More effective was Fluminense who struck a second blow in the 37th minute, the work of Arias with a cross shot from Samuel Xavier’s pass. It was the Colombian’s seventh goal with the ‘Flu’ shirt.

In the second half, Érwin Sánchez’s squad had it through Carlos Roca, but Fábio appeared to keep a clean sheet, in the middle of the defense’s siesta.

The Carioca team woke up with a double chance from Willian, who had replaced Arias, and the Argentine Germán Cano, who Quiñónez accurately disrupted.

The good work of the visiting goalkeeper was overshadowed by Zazpe with his own goal to completely sink Oriente Petrolero.
