Entrepreneurs Andrés Hilario and Ariel Grullón explained that three of them imported 15 animals from Miami, with all the certificates of negative health results for diseases, and that after two months they were informed in Livestock that there were two sick cattle, for which they slaughtered all the animals without showing him the carcasses.
“The animals were bought in the United States, they lasted a quarantine there where all the procedures were done and all the tests came out negative, and now in Livestock they come out with the sacrifice,” they specified.
Ariel Grullón asked the Attorney General’s Office to investigate the case to determine if it is true that the cattle were slaughtered.
“If there was a sick animal, the owners had to be summoned, in accordance with what is established by Dominican legislation, and they were not invited or notified. What it seems is that they want to keep those animal export certificates”, according to the lawyer Plutarco Jáquez, representative of the plaintiffs.
“We are requesting the Public ministry to open an investigation of the case and determine which are the people from Livestock who want to keep those certificates to import animals and take them out,” argued the litigant.
He said that in this case the crimes of association of criminals, prevarication, abuse of authority, abuse of power, false documents, crimes punishable by up to 10 years in prison, according to article 188 of the Dominican Penal Code, are configured.
