SCJN protects the community of Sinaloa before the construction of an ammonia plant

The ammonia plant, located in the Ohuira bay, is between 6.7 and 7.5 kilometers in a straight line from the indigenous community, so it could affect its inhabitants, according to the SCJN.

The project planned to produce 2,200 tons of anhydrous ammonia per day.

The plant would have an initial investment of 1.25 billion dollars and would reach 5 billion in a decade, according to the newspaper Reforma.

The amparo invalidates the Environmental Impact Statement that the authorities had granted, since a prior consultation with the indigenous community was not carried out.
