Of the 23 cases of femicides reported from January 1 to April 4 in the country, the department of La Paz is the one that registered the most, since to date it has added 10. Among the last cases reported was that of Valeria M. and Wilma F. It is known that there are already 423 cases of human trafficking and smuggling.
The report of the Special Prosecutor for Crimes Against Life indicated that La Paz has 10 cases. They are followed by Santa Cruz with seven, Cochabamba with three, Beni with two and Potosí with one. The rest of the departments did not register cases.
“The last two victims of femicide were preliminarily denounced with the crimes of trafficking, both the case of Valeria and Wilma. However, at the conclusion, these two people were found dead and the corresponding investigation has been carried out, it has been classified as the crime of femicide”, reported the Secretary General of the State Attorney General’s Office, Edwin Quispe.
The authority of the Ministry of the Public indicated that the crime of femicide “is tarnishing the sensitivity of our society, but something very certain is that it happens within the family, in the circle of trust of the victim, because we are talking about ex-partners, either as partners or spouses.
According to data from the report of the Specialized Prosecutor for Crimes Against Life, in the same period of 2021, 31 cases of femicide were reported. Likewise, he explained that 423 cases of trafficking were reported in the country, “a crime that is quite complicated to investigate.”
