Institutions demand a transparent census

The mobilization called by the Census Promotion Commission in Santa Cruz yesterday demanded that the Government and the National Institute of Statistics (INE) carry out a transparent and clean census, because it depends on that to have real information on the country, which allows for the planning and definition of strategies, in addition to the reallocation of resources.

A large number of people attended the call of the institutionality. The walk started from the Plaza del Estudiante to the Plaza 24 de Septiembre, where a small rally was held.

The rector of the Gabriel René Moreno University (Uagrm), Vicente Cuéllar, said that It will take to the streets as many times as necessary to demand from the national authorities the information it has on the preparation of the census. of this year. “Given the refusal (to give the information) big questions open up for us: Are they hiding something or are they afraid that we will control it?”, questioned the rector.

In turn, Governor Luis Fernando Camacho pointed out that they are fighting so that “they do not fraud” with the census results and accused the Movement Toward Socialism (MAS) of being behind it. “We are not going to allow ourselves to be robbed of the census because we want what corresponds to us: greater parliamentary representation and development. Neither is anyone coming to knock down, but we are going to let ourselves be knocked down with the census.

Finally, the president of the civic entity, Rómulo Calvo, asked for unity and to take to the streets “so as not to allow the government to continue hiding data” related to this population census.
