The Departmental Board of Canelones approved by a special majority on Tuesday a new line of credit for up to US$44 million to the commune led by Yamandú Orsi.. The dissenting vote was that of the mayor Juan López, a member of the 400 list of the National Party in Canelones.
The Broad Front needed to capture at least one vote in the opposition to get a two-thirds majority. The project presented to the Board on Monday afternoon and approved in 24 hours by the Canarian ruling party reissued the discussion triggered last year, when Orsi proposed financing for up to US$ 80 million that failed in the Canelones legislature.
On that date, the hierarchies of the commune denounced “pressure” from the Executive Tower, based on calls from the secretary of the Presidency, Álvaro Delgado, which the white and red councilors themselves reported.
The trust, details of which were shared with The Observeris divided into three parts: neighborhood consolidation works (with a maximum cost of US$30 million), maintenance of public spaces (US$13 million) and acquisition of vehicles for the transportation of people with disabilities (US$1 million).
From the opposition they harshly criticized the terms of the discussion, which resolved in 24 hours a tool that will impact the accounts of the four future administrations of the Canelones Municipality.
“It is shameful for a man who wants to be president (Orsi) and for a mayor who sells himself I don’t know at what price,” accused the mayor of list 33, Alejandro Repetto, from the sector that answers to deputy Sebastián Andújar.
