President Jair Bolsonaro praised the work of the Armed Forces in a speech during a ceremony for the promotion of general officers of the Army, Navy and Air Force, on Tuesday afternoon (5), at Palácio do Planalto, in Brasília. 
“You are the anchor of our country, always present in any situation. This brings tranquility to the government, to its ministers, in the certainty that your work is reverted to all 215 million inhabitants”, he said.
In a reference to previous periods in the history of Brazil, without mentioning which ones, the president, who is a retired army captain, spoke of “sacrificing his own life” in the name of his homeland. “We have always been on the side of legality. Rest assured, if the country ever calls us again, we will do everything for it, even at the sacrifice of our own lives. The people expect a lot from us. They want peace, tranquility, transparency, they want a government to work for them”.
The president said the country’s economy has recovered and that economic data has shown where the country is heading. “We overcame terrible obstacles, but Brazil is big. The problems and consequences of these obstacles are all over the world. And Brazil was one of the ones that suffered the least in the economy”.
Bolsonaro again criticized the press coverage of his administration. “We regret, on the part of our press, huge attacks. We have been worried for three years and three months. But whoever has a clear conscience and God by his side overcomes all obstacles”.
