The Federal Police launched Operation Tânatos, in Roraima, today (5), with the objective of investigating a group of interstate drug traffickers that had, among its members, a councilor from Boa Vista. The names of the investigated were not informed by the PF.
At least 60 federal police officers participate in the operation. 11 search and seizure warrants are being carried out in the cities of Boa Vista and Alto Alegre. The warrants were issued by the Court of Narcotics and Criminal Organizations of the State of Roraima.
“The investigations began in December 2020, with the arrest in the act of one of the main suspects of integrating the association. Since then, more than 50 kg of skunk, three luxury vehicles and more than R$70,000 in cash have been seized as a result of the investigations,” the PF said in a statement.
According to the investigators, the group distributed the drugs that were obtained in the Amazon throughout the state. Among the vehicles used to transport the drug there are even some airplanes. It is estimated that at least BRL 500,000 were handled in 8 months by the traffickers.
The police investigation points out that a councilor from Boa Vista “would act as a possible collaborator of the group, providing vehicles for the transport of drugs. There are also indications of the participation of an airplane pilot who would be known to provide illegal services in mining regions in the state”, said the PF.
The Boa Vista City Council has not yet commented on the councilor’s participation.
