President Alberto Fernández and his counterpart from Chile, Gabriel Boric, toured the Esma Memory Site Museum, with the presence of officials from both countries, prior to a meeting that the head of state of the neighboring country will hold with human rights organizations.
Fernández arrived at the museum at 10 o’clock, located on the former Esma property, and, minutes later, Boric did so, accompanied by Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero and Chilean officials who are part of his entourage, as part of the second day of his country visit.
The leaders were received by the Minister of Justice, Martin Soria; the Secretary of Human Rights, Horacio Pietragalla Corti; the secretary general of the Presidency, Julio Vitobello and the director of the Museum, Mayki Gorosito.
In statements to the press, Chilean Foreign Minister Antonia Urrejola stated that Boric’s visit so far has an “excellent” result and he remarked that “it has been possible to make progress on bilateral issues”, in particular on issues of “gender and culture”.
Meanwhile, at the meeting with human rights organizations in which Boric will participate, Buscarita Roa, the only Chilean citizen who is part of the Grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo, will be present, as well as the references Lita Boitano, Taty Almeida and Nora Cortiñas.
Later, the President of Chile is scheduled to tour the Museum of Fine Arts and then meet with members of the Chilean community in Argentina.
Boric’s first official activity of the day was at the Foreign Ministry, together with Cafiero, where the Argentina-Chile Public-Private Meeting was held, with businessmen from both countries.
