Some 2000 thousand companies dedicated to the production of candles and candles are affected by the lack of supplies such as paraffin, dyes and wick. That is why the Day of the Candles in December is in ‘we will see’.
Pasture News.
The candle and candle industry is almost paralyzed due to lack of supplies, according to Caracol Radio, this is due to a crisis that has been coming since September from the company Ecopetrol, the main and only producer of paraffin in Colombia.
Due to the suspension in the base and wax plant of Ecopetrol, approximately two thousand companies do not have supplies for production.
Among those affected are companies from Nariño, a department in charge of supplying Cauca, Antioquia, Valle and Putumayo.
So, to continue with the production, they must import the paraffin from China at a higher cost and with long times. For these reasons, they no longer have a way to cover the demand for the month of December.
Yohana Ávila, manager of Coopfanalvelas in conversation with Caracol Radio, projected that for the month of December, candles and candles can only be found in chain stores or resale at a higher price.
Following that order of ideas, he argued that “Small producers do not have the capacity to import paraffin.”
For its part, Ecopetrol informed that they will advance a plan to start activities of production of the plant located in Barrancabermeja, but they have not given a start date.
“The company regrets the inconvenience caused by the delay in paraffin deliveries to the national sector of candle and candle producers ”, they explained.
Nevertheless the greatest affectation It is for micro-entrepreneurs, workers of the same, informal sellers, and even final consumers, because the price could skyrocket in chain stores, supermarkets and other establishments that are reserving stock.
