The President of Chile, Gabriel Boric, arrived in Argentina this Sunday on an official visit to start a new stage in bilateral relations, with an intense agenda that will begin on Monday with a meeting with his counterpart Alberto Fernández at the Casa Rosada, where they will sign a series of bilateral agreements.

Boric’s arrival in the country, on his first trip abroad after assuming the Presidency of Chile in early March, “marks the beginning of a new stage in the relationship between both nations and this is the expectation conveyed by Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero to the new Chilean ambassador, Bárbara Figueroa, with whom he met” in the last few hours, official sources said.

“The governments of Chile and Argentina will share a common agenda that includes the promotion and protection of human rights, the centrality of gender policies, care for the environment, and investment in science and technology and innovation to promote regional development. “, the sources added to Télam.

Boric – who defeated the right-wing José Antonio Kast in the elections representing the leftist Social Convergence party – arrived at the Ezeiza airport in a Chilean Air Force plane that landed around 4:00 p.m. in the FOB sector (a separate area of ​​the airport) and was received by Cafiero.

Minutes after landing, and after the descent of the numerous entourage that accompanied him, Boris, dressed in a dark-colored doublet and a white shirt without a tie, got off the ship accompanied by Cafiero. Fernández will receive Boric this Monday at the Casa Rosadawhere both will sign bilateral agreements at the beginning of the first international tour of the president of the trans-Andean country, who took office on March 11.

Next, an extended meeting of both delegations will be held in the Eva Perón room, in which they will participate, for Argentina, Cafiero and the defense ministers, Jorge Taiana; of Economy, Martín Guzmán; of Culture, Tristán Bauer, and the Minister of Women, Gender and Diversity, Elizabeth Gómez Alcorta.

After the activity, both presidents will lead the signing of a series of agreements at the Bicentennial Museumto then make a statement to the press there.

In the afternoon, Boric and his entourage will go to Congress around 3:00 p.m., where the president will sign the Book of Honor, take part in an official photo and hold a meeting with the provisional president of the Senate, Claudia Ledesma Abdala de Zamora, the head of the Chamber of Deputies, Sergio Massa, and other parliamentary authorities.

The trans-Andean president will be accompanied by a legislative delegation made up, among others, by the president of the Chilean Senate, Álvaro Antonio Elizalde Soto, and of the Chamber of Deputies of his country, Raúl Humberto Soto Mardones.

Boric’s itinerary will continue with a visit to the Palace of Justice, where he will be received by the vice president of the Supreme Court, Carlos Rosenkrantz, with whom he will have a subsequent meeting that will include the ministers Juan Carlos Maqueda and Ricardo Lorenzetti. On behalf of Chile, the president of the Supreme Court of Justice, Juan Fuentes, will participate.

At night, Fernández and Boric will attend a cultural show at the Kirchner Cultural Center (CCK) and later Fernández “will offer a dinner in honor” to his Chilean counterpart, in which both “will address a few words to those present,” it was reported in a statement.

On Tuesday, the president of the neighboring country will inaugurate the business forum of the Argentina-Chile Trade Committee in which “nearly 50 businessmen from both countries” will participate and which will take place at the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry.

As reported by Palacio San Martín, the Minister of Productive Development, Matías Kulfas; the Secretary of International Economic Relations, Cecilia Todesca Bocco, and Ambassador Bielsa, while the Minister of Energy Huepe and the Undersecretary of International Economic Relations Ahumada will participate along with Boric. As part of the official activities, this Monday also there will be a binational meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense, starting at 2:30 p.m., in the Golden Room of the Palacio San Martín. Cafiero and Taiana will meet with their Chilean counterparts Antonia Urrejola Noguera and Maya Fernández Allende, respectively, after which a meeting between both foreign ministers will take place, scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
