FSLN activist denounces police siege after protesting deactivation of "historical Sandinism"

A militant of the so-called historical Sandinismo called Sandra Martínez, denounced through a series of audios that were leaked on social networks that she is besieged by the National Policebecause a meeting of members of this movement was apparently going to be held in his house in which the latest decisions from the leadership of the Sandinista Front would be discussed.

According to the audios and reports released on social networks, Martínez denounced that five policemen were stationed in front of his house. She blames the political secretaries in her area for having ordered this siege against her.
“In my house, I have five policemen who are guarding my house. I do not know why. In the morning the head of the sector came to ask me a few things and I told him to go report to the political secretary. So that they are aware of the situation, ”said Martínez in one of the audios that he was first sent to his companions in the movement.

“I have never hidden that I am from the historic Sandinismo 8-11 and I am going to shout it loudly party. That is my flag and that is why I am going to continue fighting”, he added.

In the reports on social networks, photos of the militant were disclosed in which she appears with members of the police and the flag of the Sandinista Front.

The incident would be linked to a letter that Martínez published on social networks referring to the memorandum of March 28 last signed by retired Colonel Leopoldo Rivas Alfaro, national coordinator of attention to “historical Sandinism”, in which he announced the deactivation of that movement.

Among the points raised by Martínez in his writing on Facebook, he cites: “Who does Polo (Leopoldo Rivas) really answer to? Why, when the contradictions are sharpening and more traitors are appearing, is this letter drawn? Why is this decision made a few months before the municipal elections? Is the intelligence work that the historic Sandinists do in each neighborhood combination with the security forces. By removing that mission, who benefits? To the little pig infiltrated in the State and the party?

“They are developing a strategy to achieve the seals of the party,” says activist

Martinez also wrote on his Facebook profile other questions about the memorandum sent by Leopoldo Rivas, pointing out, “Who gave them that attribution, since what groups benefit from deactivating the historic Sandinismo, just as it works right now? That mission of deactivating us only benefits Yankee imperialism and those who will never dream of having the leadership of Daniel (Ortega) or in the worst case, those who are developing a strategy to achieve the seals of the party, when Daniel passes to another plane of life”, quote.

“Many are bothered that the historical Sandinismo is pointing out the abuses that are committed in the territories; in the complicit attitude of filling the mayor’s offices and state institutions with ex-puchos and traitors, which they have been protecting since 2018, ”he adds, among other points.

In the memorandum of Rivas Alfaro it is reported that the “deactivation” of the historical members occurs at the moment when supposedly 90 percent of them are incorporated into the Electoral Victory Units (UVE), that is, the party structures to through which the ruling party carried out espionage tasks in the neighborhoods in the face of last year’s voting.

Considering this incorporation as a “goal accomplished,” Rivas Alfaro affirms that “the existence of a structure such as that of the historic Sandinismo is no longer necessary,” made up mainly of former soldiers, former guerrillas, and former combatants who participated in the fight against the Somoza’s dictatorship and in the war of the eighties with the counterrevolution.

Centralize control in the hands of Rosario Murillo

However, Sandinista militants consulted by CONFIDENTIAL they consider that what this movement is really seeking is to centralize all the power of the FSLN in the hands of the Vice President Rosario Murillo.

Martínez’s intention to try to carry out this meeting to address the intentions of this memorandum would have been what triggered the siege against him. He even blames someone who is one of the political coordinators of the Sandinista Front in his area, located in the Sixth District of Managua.

“Good afternoon Álvaro (surname not identified). This is Sandra (Martinez), I just want to ask you something. I don’t know why the police are here. If you were the one who sent me to take care of my house or to take care of myself, I hold you responsible for any situation that occurs in my house or with my daughter. You know very well that I have a girl with a disability and she is already nervous”; is noted in the audio.

Even in another audio, a Sandinista militant refers to the incident as the “beginning of the repression against historic Sandinismo.”

Activated in the wake of the 2018 protests

The movement of the “historical” was activated as a result of the crisis april 2018when the FSLN controlled by Rosario Murillo and the cadres of the Sandinista Youth, was overwhelmed by the social unrest and the national protest.
At the head of this movement were placed ex-guerrillas and retired senior soldiers such as Edén Pastora, Leopoldo Rivas, Raúl Venerio, and Glauco Robelo, and elements that participated in the paramilitary repression were recruited from their ranks.

Another of the tasks they carried out, according to their coordinator, was intelligence, but the new order is supposed to stop collecting information on “enemy activities and transmitting them to the National Police and the Army at the territorial level.”

“It is strictly prohibited to continue organizing and operating intelligence or counterintelligence networks of any nature,” reiterates Rivas Alfaro in the communication in which he says goodbye, appealing to “party discipline” and cheering Ortega and Murillo.
