Chetumal, QR., President Andrés Manuel López Obrador hinted that he will not meet with experts from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) to discuss the issue of the Mayan Train; he suggested to the opponents of the work that they speak with the pseudo-environmentalists
and with the people.
Upon his arrival in Chetumal, a few hours before the electoral campaigns begin to renew the governorship and the state congress, the president refused to talk about political issues, out of respect for the electoral ban.
Coming from Xpujil, Campeche, the head of the federal Executive was approached by local reporters, who asked him if he will meet with experts from UNAM to talk about the construction work of the Mayan Train, which has been highly questioned by environmental groups and activists. .
–Are you going to listen to the experts from UNAM, to the biologists from Playa del Carmen?
–We are going to visit Playa del Carmen tomorrow (today); The ejidatarios are already speaking, let those of the UNAM speak with the true pseudo-environmentalists, with the communities, with the people, he replied.
When asked about the message he would give to the candidates for governor who will start campaigns today, he replied that due to the electoral ban he could not say anything.
He also ruled out meeting with Mara Lezama, Morena’s candidate for governor.
He only sent a message to the people of Chetumal, whom he assured: I am very happy to be in Chetumal, we are going to continue promoting the development of the south of Quintana Roo, the south also exists
.
Upon his arrival in the state capital, López Obrador was received by citizens who with banners celebrated the construction of the Mayan Train.
It is expected that today he will visit the municipalities of Tulum and Solidaridad, where environmental groups are more reluctant to the construction of Section 5 of the Mayan Train, under the argument of the impact that it will have on the environment, coupled with the fact that with the clearing of the jungle, discovered the first of 11 water caverns that would have been in its section towards Tulum.
