Osvaldo Marcelo Rojas contacted our newsroom to denounce an unfounded accusation against him after an aunt who was his father’s sister had died and was later buried in the Lambaré cemetery.
As he points out in 2020 – when this death occurred – he went to help with the paperwork at the cemetery, which included signing a document that the officials had provided. It was a request for burial, which – as they told him at the time – was something regular in this type of case.
Great was his surprise when, after some time, the cousin of his deceased aunt filed a criminal complaint after the alleged disappearance of the skeletal remains of his deceased mother, who was also buried in the same family vault 20 years ago.
According to the defendant, there were many irregularities in this process, starting from the original complaint in which he appears as a defendant, since originally it was by “unnamed persons” and they ended up blaming him.
There were some contradictions in the statements made by the director of the Lambaré necropolis, surnamed Cano, he said. Likewise, he denied that he had authorized the burial of his aunt in the place where the mortal remains of the complainant’s mother were supposed to be, as they now suppose.
After this, he also indicated that the actions of the prosecutor Teresa Torres herself left many doubts and questions for not having taken into account that he is the only one in charge of what happens in the cemetery.
The signature he gave on that occasion was for a burial request and not to place the coffin in the quota of another deceased person, he emphasized.
Among all the irregularities ignored by the Prosecutor’s Office, he mentions the specific case of the application document that they presented and that – according to what he said – is adulterated with pens of different thickness.
“No one verified, no one asked for an expert opinion except my lawyer, they ignored the requests, but at first glance you can see that they added data.”
Rojas asks the Public Ministry to take the case seriously and, above all, to disassociate him from this complaint, since he claims to be innocent and never to have committed the act for which he is accused.
