Government waives tests against covid-19 to those who enter the country

Interministerial Ordinance published in an extra edition of the Official Diary of the Union last night (1st) waives the need to present a test for screening for infection by Sars-Cov-2 (covid-19) to travelers from international, Brazilian or foreign origin, provided that they present proof of vaccination, printed or in medium electronic.Government waives tests against covid-19 to those who enter the country

The measure applies to those traveling by air, land and water. In the case of air travelers, proof of vaccination must be presented to the airline before boarding.

In the case of people traveling by land, the proof must be presented at the land control points. In the case of those traveling by waterway transport, the proof must be presented before boarding to the operator or person responsible for the vessel.

exceptions

The legislation clarifies that the presentation of tests to screen the infection will still be necessary in cases where the legislation itself exempts the presentation of proof of vaccination for entry into the country. This is the case of travelers with a health condition that contraindicates vaccination, provided that it is supported by a medical report, for example.

Persons who are not eligible for vaccination due to age are also exempt from presenting proof of vaccination to enter the country – provided they present screening tests; and travelers entering the country for humanitarian reasons.

Completing this group (people exempted from presenting proof of vaccination, but who need to present tests to enter the country) people from countries with low vaccination coverage; and Brazilians and foreigners residing in Brazilian territory, who are not fully vaccinated.

In the case of overland travelers, the measure includes – among those who do not need to present proof of vaccination – border residents of twin cities, upon presentation of supporting documents. Cargo transport workers, including drivers and assistants, do not need to present proof of vaccination either, as long as they prove to be adopting personal protective equipment and measures to mitigate contagion indicated by Anvisa.

According to the ordinance published yesterday, the tests to be presented in these specific situations must have “a negative or non-detectable result, such as an antigen test or laboratory RT-PCR carried out one day before the moment of boarding”, having as a reference some parameters presented in annex to the concierge.

The need to present proof of vaccination and test with a negative result for the disease was provided for in norms previously published.
