The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, highlighted the importance and strategic role played by the United States in the recovery of tourism in the country, at a key moment of economic recovery.
Participating as a guest speaker, during a meeting organized by the American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (AMCHAMDR), Collado stated that the United States is the country number one as source of tourists and the third country with the highest investment and growth.
He indicated that in the month of March alone, 57% of the tourists who arrived in the country are from the United States,” the minister stressed during his participation as a guest speaker at the AMCHAMDR Encounters organized in March by the American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (AMCHAMDR).
“In 2021, 134 thousand passengers traveled to the Dominican Republic as a result of promotional actions by the Ministry of Tourism, with a total investment of 775 thousand dollars, equivalent to a cost of 5.8 dollars per tourist,” added Collado.
The minister also highlighted the economic impact of these visits, to the extent that each tourist represents more than 100 dollars in direct and indirect taxes, and more than 1,000 dollars in added value.
In conclusion, after the passage of the pandemic, Collado pointed out that the Dominican Republic is “the number 1 country in tourism recovery.”
