The Minister of Tourism, Alí Padrón, and the Secretary of the Alba TCP, Sacha Llorenti, presented the special edition of Venetur magazine, dedicated to encouraging tourism to the destinations of the 9 Alba countries.
Padrón indicated that they are promoting multi-destination with the 9 countries of the Alba TCP and that connectivity with Conviasa is guaranteed.
The head of the Tourism portfolio indicated that this industry has had difficult times with this pandemic. “The numbers from the World Tourism Organization are devastating,” he said. He referred that in 2020 there was a drop of 80 percent worldwide, although in 2021 there was a slight recovery; however, the UNWTO forecasts that by 2024 the numbers will show the recovery as before 2019.
He pointed out that this leads them to change the strategy of many countries that live from the tourism industry that generates one out of every 10 jobs in the world.
He affirmed that the promotion and positioning of destinations are the strategy and that Alba offers a space for solidarity and cooperation that allows, in the case of tourism, to work with multi-destination. “It is already being done with the Republic of Cuba, where we have two flights a week, Tuesday and Saturday,” he indicated.
He trusts that the Venetur magazine, which he presented to the representatives of the ALBA countries, is an opportunity to express himself as a destination.
