The former leader of the National Liberation Movement, Jorge Zabalza, died on February 23, and his wife Verónika Engler has denounced that a series of “irregular” events occurred at the Hospital de Clínicas.
The weekly Brecha published on March 11 that there was “a plot of confusing incidents, strange episodes and inhuman attitudes” and that “the last month of the life of the former guerrilla was marked by pain and horror.” The statements were made by Veronika Hengler, who was Zabalza’s wife, and is the daughter of Henry Engler, founder and first director of the Molecular Imaging Center (CUDIM).
For his part, Villar stated that there is an ongoing administrative investigation

In this context, Crysol reported that in the face of different versions of the press and without anyone having “contacted, informed or given notice”, being the association of all former prisoners and all former political prisoners, they have decided to request an interview with the doctor Álvaro Villar, director of the Hospital de Clínicas to “gather information about the death of Jorge Zabalza” who was an associate of the organization.
“All of us are going to die. For almost two decades we have ensured a decent old age for our group. Regardless of the political position of the government, we will strive to maintain and overcome the gains made and that health care ensure the best technical and human capacity for the old social and political fighters,” Crysol said in a statement, noting that is and will be at the service of all and all associates.
