“March was another month of significant growth for motorcycles and it seems that the behavior of the market will continue to rise”Ricardo Salome, president of Acara
This improvement will occur “beyond the problem of imports, both in units and parts,” continued Salomé, who stressed that despite these drawbacks, “the sale of motorcycles continues to strengthen and grow.”
In that sense, they affirmed from Cafam, “this year it is possible to reach close to 500,000 motorcycles again, as normal years in the industry.”
The rise in sales will be “the product of the need to use the motorcycle as a means of transport in more and more provinces and cities, in the case of the smallest units, but also in those of the medium segment, because the motorcycle is also being used for trips and transfers of many kilometers,” Salomé added.
Likewise, he rescued the “central role” in the financing of Banco Nación’s “Mi Moto” program, “which largely explains this trend that will not stop in the short term.”
“The activity needs an extension of decree 81 or a new law of incentives for local integration to continue increasing the industrialization process,” said the president of Cafam, Lino Stefanuto.
For Stefanuto, “a longer horizon is required to plan and continue developing local products, generate more employment and promote new investments by companies in the sector.”
“Plan ambitious but achievable long-term goals, where both the State and the private sector can join forces in agreements that strengthen the sector and its entire value chain, all contributing to very progressive but sustainable and genuine growth,” he concluded.
