Minsa clarifies that positive cases of Covid-19 in schools are isolated

The director of Environmental Education of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), Carmen Aparicio, indicated that the provinces with the most positive cases of Covid-19 in schools are Chiriquí, Los Santos and Panamá Oeste, but assured that these are isolated.

According to the current balance, there are 153 cases of Covid-19 in schools; 115 in students, 5 in administrative staff and 33 in teachers.

“They are in different schools, 1, 2, 3 cases in different groups, they are not like a cluster in some educational center as such,” he said.

In addition, he mentioned that they have applied the pediatric dose to more than 50% of the applicable population, the regular dose to more than 95% of teachers and more than 90% to those between 11 and 17 years old.

It should be remembered that according to the latest epidemiological report from the Minsa there were 2,2607 active cases of Covid-19 in Panama.

The use of masks in open places is not mandatory since March 28; however, in educational centers the measure is maintained, so the authorities urge the population to continue respecting the measures.
