The Undersecretary for Human Rights, Population and Migration, Alejandro Encinas, asked Latin American countries to analyze the arrival of people from Ukraine seeking refuge as part of the migration issue.
When participating in the second preparatory workshop for the International Migration Review Forum, to be held in May at the UN headquarters, he explained that only in the first two months of the year, before the military intervention in the European country, There was an increase in the arrival of Ukrainians in Mexico, with almost 10,000 in that period, and he stressed that the number will multiply in the coming months.
Although most Ukrainians have arrived in Mexico City, he noted that Tijuana has become a important pole of attraction
as well as other border cities with the United States.
The phenomenon, he said, is treated based on the policy of guaranteeing humanitarian protection. Our estimate is that this figure will multiply in the coming months. Here we want to endorse that we will continue to give the migration facilitation measures that have been implemented since 1993 with the population of Ukraine.
