The Ombudsman demanded President Pedro Castillo appoint a “suitable person” in the Ministry of Health (Minsa) after the censorship of its head, Hernán Condori, this Thursday 31 in Congress.
Through his Twitter account, he indicated that the new head of the Minsa must have “sufficient experience and solid knowledge” to lead the response to the pandemic COVID-19 and health system reform.
“The central aspects of the new management must be to guarantee coverage with the three doses of the coronavirus vaccine, recover regular vaccination coverage, prepare for a possible fourth wave and fully restart non-COVID-19 services.”noted on the social network.
“The consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and the pain caused by more than 212,000 deceased people require that the Government appoint a person in Minsa with professional solvency, experience in public health, free of improper political interference and acts of corruption”he added.
As recalled, the Congress of the republic approved this Thursday the motion of censure against the Minister of Health, Hernan Condoriwho must now leave office in the next 72 hours.
By 71 votes in favor, 32 against and 13 abstentionsthe national representation accepted the motion presented last week against Condori, who had already been questioned by the Plenary on March 23.
The document detailed that the head of the Ministry of Health lacked suitability to hold the position, since a few days before his appointment “he exercised his profession inappropriately by promoting the sale of Cluster X2 (‘agua arracimada’) attributing to it medicinal properties that have not been verified or certified by any official or academic authority”.
Also, he realized that Condori Machado used his status as a doctor to promote a cervical cancer diagnostic service in 1 minute, despite not having a specialty in gynecology or oncology.
