The president of the National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur), Carlos Canales, warned that there are 500,000 jobs and 10,000 companies in the sector at risk if the payment of credits is not rescheduled. Reactive Peru.

“We feel that the negative response of the Central Reserve Bank affects us because they are looking at a part of the country’s economy and not those activities, such as tourism, that generate millions of jobs,” he said.
Meanwhile, the president of the Peruvian Association of Receptive and Internal Tourism Operators (Apotur), Enrique Quiñones, indicated that in the first months of the year only 18% of the number of visitors had entered before the pandemic (2019 ).
“In May we have to start paying the credits that have been financed for 36 months. We are requesting a term that is a little longer than this period for the payment of the debt”, he commented.
State of emergency
On the other hand, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Roberto Sánchez, announced that the Executive is considering declaring an emergency in the sector to take measures that allow its reactivation.
